Crystal Palace are set to activate the £13 million release clause of Newcastle's Andros Townsend.

Sky Sports are reporting that the Premier League side have triggered the 24-year-old's release clause, and It's believed he's considering the offer as he has the opportunity to remain in the top flight.

Newcastle signed the England winger from Tottenham in the January window for a reported £12 million despite not making a single appearance for Spurs during that campaign. Though he did impress for the Magpies making 13 appearances scoring four goals, yet it wasn't enough to keep them up as they were relegated to the Championship.

If Palace can finalise this deal they'll boasts Zaha, Bolasie and Townsend forming a Lethal pack of wingers. This, also, comes after 'The Eagles' made a £31.5 million bid for Belgium hotshot Michy Batshuay.

Will Townsend at least give 'The Toon' one year in the Championship in hope of an instant return? Or is the lure of Premier League football to tempting?

Stay tuned.
