He's been linked to Barcelona too.

Chelsea have offered Rangers £500,000 to sign wonderkid Billy Gilmour, according to ESPN.

The 15-year-old attacker has enjoyed a rapid rise in the club's youth system since starring for Scotland's Victory Shield team at the start of last month.

Plenty of eyes were on that tournament because of the involvement of Celtic youngster Karamoko Dembele - who himself shot to worldwide fame after the Hoops handed the 13-year-old a substitute spot in their Under-20 team earlier in the year.

But Gilmour turned out to be the star man, with some reports comparing him to Andres Iniesta and linking him with a host of top clubs, including Barcelona and Manchester City.

Gilmour was in the Rangers development team which beat Dundee last week and is now at the centre of a story saying Chelsea have offered the club a huge £500,000 to sign him.

According to ESPN.com:

"Gilmour is under contract at Rangers until the end of the season, but Chelsea have offered the Scottish club £500,000 to sign the player now rather than wait until he is 16 and try and land him on a compensation fee."

That is a massive sum of money considering Gilmour is only 15, hasn't been near Mark Warburton's first team and would go to Chelsea to join up with their youth academy teams.

But it's probably not surprising considering the Stamford Bridge club have a reputation for signing quality young players early on in their career.

Rangers fans - should the club take the money?
