Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could be on the verge of a big move to Barcelona after reportedly telling the La Liga champions he's willing to move to the club.

The Arsenal striker is the club's top scorer and their most important player but with just over a year left on his contract, and not willing to sign a new deal, there's a chance he will be sold in the summer.

Aubameyang has been linked with Barca in the past but according to Mundo Deportivo he has now intimated that he is willing to move to the Camp Nou.

The chances of the Catalan giants signing Aubameyang may well depend on whether the striker is willing to attempt to leave the club and ask for a transfer.

Barca are in need of a striker in this transfer window because of the recent injury to Luis Suarez but Mikel Arteta is unlikely to let his best player and most potent weapon leave whilst there's still a chance of a top four finish or Europa League win.

The Gunners are currently 10 points behind fourth place Chelsea, and in 10th in the league, in the race to next season's Champions League and their best chance of qualification remains in the Europa.

On Tuesday new Barcelona boss Quique Setien admitted the club are trying to sign a replacement for Suarez, saying, "It's true we're speaking about it. But we still have to move things on a little bit.

"Everything else has to be studied exhaustively, then we will see what the most convenient [option] is.

"It's an issue I still can't answer and I am not going to do so. I have spoken about some thing with the club, but nothing in concrete.

"They're internal issues and it's preferable for me if you don't ask me, because I am not going to say anything, so let's not waste time."

Suarez has had to have knee surgery and is expected to be out for four months, leaving the club in desperate need for a striker, but they will need to make the right signing for their league and Champions League campaigns.

Last January they signed Kevin Prince Boateng on loan but he started just three league games and failed to score.

Aubameyang would be a massive signing for them, but the Arsenal striker looks more likely to leave in the summer.
