The Four Failed Transfers That Have Left Antonio Conte Fuming This Season

It has been a frustrating time for the Chelsea manager...

It seems Antonio Conte has been left frustrated by the club's lack of ambition in the transfer market and a recent report has stated where it has all gone wrong for the Italian.

Chelsea have brought in Olivier Giroud in the January transfer window, but the club's transfer policy has been a big debate in recent weeks, with director Marina Granovskaia reportedly playing a role in the upset.

The former Juventus and Italy boss has come under fire this season, following an almost non-existent Premier League title defence, which has seen the Blues slump to six defeats and sit in fourth place.

The Premier League champions bought the likes of Ross Barkley and Danny Drinkwater since lifting the title, but a report from The Times indicates the failure to sign some big names in the summer was a blow to Conte.

Has this effected Chelsea's form this season?

The report states that missing out on Leonardo Bonucci from Juventus last summer was a 'particularly bitter blow', with Conte making it clear that he was less than impressed to be given Antonio Rüdiger.

Conte was also unhappy that the club did not push harder to sign Virgil van Dijk, Alexis Sánchez and Alex Sandro last month.

So Conte wasn't happy that the club didn't sign Alexis Sanchez, VVD, Bonucci and Alex Sandro - players that would have certainly strengthened their core.

In other news, there may be several people in and around Chelsea Football Club who are ready to see the back of manager Antonio Conte, but if the Italian's detractors are to see their wish granted, it will set the club back a substantial chunk of change.

Spanish newspaper Sport are reporting that sacking Conte will cost Roman Abramovich somewhere in the region of £26.7 million, which, although an amount Chelsea's Russian owner could comfortably find down the side of an armchair on one of his yachts, is hardly a sum Abramovich will want to hand over to a manager he's reported to have had multiple problems with.

Do you think Chelsea could have retained the title if they had bought the likes of Bonucci and Sanchez?
