Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly agreed to sell centre back Toby Alderweireld, as Nuno Espirito Santo closes in on a new defender for his team.

Spurs are preparing to shake things up at the back this summer, and are reportedly in advanced talks with Atalanta over signing Cristian Romero.

It looks like Alderweireld will be leaving the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before the new man arrives though, with a report the club have already accepted a fee.

According to the Telegraph, the Premier League side have agreed a £13 million fee for the Belgian centre back, with Qatari side Al-Duhail.

Whilst the club have accepted the deal, it is down to the 32-year-old to agree personal deals with the Middle East club and pass a medical.

Alderweireld, who joined from Atletico Madrid in 2015, has just one year left on his contract in north London and was always expected to leave this summer, with the club trying to get a fee for him.

There was an approach for the defender, who spent a season on loan at Southampton before his move to Spurs, from Royal Antwerp earlier in the summer but it was turned down.

Spurs move for Romero is expected to cost around £50 million and the money from Alderweireld's sale would certainly help Santo's budget to improvements this summer.

Whilst they are set to lose one player signed in 2015, Spurs have seen Son Heung-min sign a new deal for another four years, despite fans thinking he looked 'broken' as he returned to pre season training.

The South Korean will be extremely important to 'Nuno,' after the former Wolves boss was eventually chosen as the club's new manager.

Son's importance to the side will only grow if Harry Kane is actually sold to Manchester City, or anywhere else.

According to reports this week, Daniel Levy has supposedly made a u-turn on his original decision and is willing to sell Kane.

The price remains a potential issue for Pep Guardiola, who sees last season's Golden Boot winner as the perfect signing, with Spurs wanting upwards of £160 million for the 28-year-old.

Will Kane get his move?
