Spurs Demand Huge Price From Manchester City For Kyle Walker

Pep Guardiola has identified Walker as one of his top transfer targets but he'll have to pay a lot of money for him.

The big question for Pep Guardiola before he came to the Premier League was whether or not he could cope with English football but he found the biggest problem was his lack of quality full-backs and he'll need a lot of money to change that.

There was quite a lot of smark around when Guardiola first joined Manchester City as to how he'd do now he didn't easily have the best team in the league, as was the case when he was manager at Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Many people think they were right to question the two time Champions League winning manager once he had a poor first season in England, but he certainly deserves more time to put things right.

That's why the Manchester City owners have backed him with over £70 million of spending already this summer with the signings of attacking midfielder Bernardo Silva and goalkeeper Ederson.

Now his priority has to be bringing in new full-backs and according to the Mirror he has started talks with Spurs for Kyle Walker. However the north London side won't accept anything less than £50 million.

City do look certain to sign Dani Alves at right-back but are desperate to sign four full-backs after they let several of their underperforming ones go at the end of last season.

Walker has clearly been identified as their number one target on the right and would add to City's English contingent. However even in today's transfer market £50 million would be a huge outlay for a 27 year-old full-back.

The wide players in defence have always been important for Pep and he's always worked with quality in those positions with Alves, Jordi Alba, David Alaba and Philipp Lahm.

Last season City had Bacary Sagna, Pablo Zabaleta, Aleksandar Kolarov and Gael Clichy in the full-back positions and even used Fernando in right-back role, clearly not on the level that Guardiola is used to working with.

Kieran Trippier has signed a new five year deal at Tottenham and is expected to be their first choice next season.

Will City get their man?
