Reports are claiming tonight that Liverpool have won the race for the signature of Fulham's 16-year-old wonderkid Ryan Sessegnon.

Sessegnon, who helped himself to a brace against Newcastle at St. James' Park last Saturday, has caught the attention of several Premier League clubs with a series of scintillating displays that belie his tender years.

The 16-year-old left back has already grabbed six goals in 22 appearances for Fulham, this season and could soon be turning in his goal scoring displays at Anfield, if reports are to be believed.

According to Yahoo sources, a deal is in place for Sessegnon to move to Anfield in the Summer, with the Reds apparently beating off competition from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic has been careful with Sessegnon's development, this season, giving the youngster most of his first appearances from the substitute's bench.

Given the England U19 international's young years and the position he plays in, Sessegnon has already drawn parallels with a young Gareth Bale, who operated at left-back as a teenager for Southampton and then Spurs, before moving into a more prominent forward role in recent years.

If Sessegnon goes onto achieve even half of what Bale has so far in his career, Liverpool fans will be delighted with him.
