Real Madrid want new players, and it appears they're eyeing up a Premier League defender.

Florentino Perez has been vocal about his pursuit for new talent. He's hellbent on signing 'Galactico's' in the summer, with players such as Eden Hazard, Neymar and Harry Kane, among others, muted.

As well as eyeing up attacking reinforcements, Real Madrid are also keen on defensive recruits.

And according to reports out of Spain, the defending European champions are keeping tabs on Chelsea's Marcos Alonso, per Mundo Deportivo via Talk Sport.

The 27-year-old has emerged as a transfer target for Zinedine Zidane who's reportedly stepping up his interest for the prolific left-back.

Alonso has already weighed in with seven goals in all competitions this season, showcasing his expertise from a dead ball situation.

He's rose to prominence under Antonio Conte following a switch from Fiorentina in 2016.

In his debut season, the Spaniard bagged the Premier League title, playing 31 league games scoring six goals from defence.

While Chelsea aren't enjoying a great 2017/18 campaign, Alonso has continued his goal-scoring prowess while becoming one of the best full-backs in England's top flight.
