Louis Van Gaal's method of playing Daley Blind as an auxiliary centre half due to injuries and a lack of defensive reinforcements hasn't been Manchester United's biggest problem this season, but neither has it been a good enough solution for a club of the Red Devils' stature to be relying on a defensive midfielder with no pace playing out of position. Those days may be at an end though, with United allegedly submitting a 'concrete offer' for Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly.
The Senegal international has made 44 appearances for Napoli since joining them in 2014 and is also being tracked by Bayern Munich who are also reported to have made an offer, with incoming manager Carlo Ancelotti apparently a big fan of the defender.
Italian journalist Gianluca DiMarzio has reported the news of the two European giants vying for the 24-year-old's signature but both may be scuppered as it is also rumoured that Koulibaly's agent Bruno Satin is currently trying to tie up a new contract at Napoli for the centre-half.
