Manchester City might not yet be guaranteed their place in next season's Champions League but with Pep Guardiola set to be their manager next season and a lot of money they can still attract the big names to the Etihad.

Guardiola has a job on his hands rebuilding the City squad even if they do finish fourth and qualify for the Champions League next season with the defence in particular needing strengthening and question marks over whether his central midfielders will be able to play his style of play.

Before he's even taken charge of his new club the former Barcelona boss has landed a big name and got one over on his former team in the same deal.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio, who is incredibly reliable on these things, has said that City and Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte have agreed personal terms on a deal.

Manchester City have seemingly beaten the likes of Manchester United, Barcelona and other Top European clubs to the deal, with Pep Guardiola reportedly a huge reason behind Laporte's decision.

Good signing for City?
