At one time it may have looked as if Mario Gotze to Liverpool was a done deal, with a Jurgen Klopp reunion thought to be on the cards for the midfielder who has found himself to be out of favour for much of his time at Bayern Munich. Now, however, that doesn't look to be the case.
The 23-year-old was thought to be high on Klopp's wishlist for this Summer, but it looks as if those hopes have evaporated after the former Dortmund youngster confirmed his intentions to start afresh with the German champions, next season under incoming manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Speaking to Bild, Gotze said, "I look forward to the new season in Munich and will do everything possible to compete in top shape during my first training under Carlo Ancelotti.

Yet some Liverpool fans are refusing to be downbeat about the developments, with several believing that a deal for the German World Cup winner could be done this Summer.

Gotze does only have one year remaining on his contract at the Allianz Arena so it may just be case that he makes the journey to Merseyside next Summe rather than this one.
