Zidane Praise Of Euros Star Hints At Transfer Move

He'd cost a fair bit.

Making transfers on the back of a player's success in an international tournament isn't always the best idea, Karel Poborski and Salif Diao might be two of the best examples of this but Real Madrid's signing of James Rodriguez hasn't exactly gone too well either.

Rodriguez was bought off the back of an extremely good World Cup in Brazil two years ago and whilst the Colombian is a very talented player there's no way he was worth the 80 million euros that Los Blancos forked out for him.

Whilst the 24 year old hasn't been a disaster signing for Real he's never lived up to that price tag or his form from the 2014 World Cup however one player who could replace him in the squad should Zinedine Zidane decide to sell him is another impressing in a tournament, Dimitri Payet.

The France winger has been increasingly linked with a move to the Bernabeu and Zidane heaped praise on his fellow countryman in what could be a hint at a future transfer move. Talking about Payet the Madrid manager described the player as "one of the most important and talented players in Europe."

Payet has been brilliant for France so far in the tournament with two goals and an assist, including the last minute winner in the opening game against Romania, and of course with form comes interest from other teams and Madrid will likely be near the front of the queue.

The West Ham winger had an excellent first season in the Premier League and the Hammers would likely ask for at least £40 million for the Frenchman but Zidane and Florentino Perez may well think it's worth it.
