Today's ridiculous rumour is that Gianluigi Buffon could join Liverpool after leaving Juventus.
In an emotional press conference this morning, the legendary Italian announced that the game against Hellas Verona at the weekend will be last for the club, putting an end to a 17-year, trophy-laden spell.
The 40-year old is yet to confirm he is retiring from the game though, revealing that he has offers on and off the pitch and expresses his pride at receiving those proposals.
Some sections of the Italian press are reporting that Liverpool are "mulling over" a deal for the 2006 World Cup winner.
With silly season in full swing and the Iker Casillas to Liverpool rumours dying down, it seems we needed another daft transfer rumour linking the Anfield club with a goalkeeping great to keep Loris Karius on his toes.
Buffon stressed that he has no intention of playing for another team in Italy and there is the possibility of him moving upstairs in a different role at Juventus.

He was asked about potentially going to the Premier League and responded by saying the following:
For now, we wait to see what decision Buffon comes to next week. What do you think his next career move should be?
