David Luiz's Chelsea future has been the subject of much debate over the last couple of weeks and now, according to reports in France, the Brazilian defender's second spell at Stamford Bridge could be coming to a premature end.

Luiz recently trained on his own ahead of Chelsea's 1-0 victory over Manchester United after reportedly questioning manager Antonio Conte's tactics following the Premier League champions' emphatic 3-0 defeat to Roma in the Champions League.

Since then, the former Benfica and Paris Saint-Germain defender has failed to start a game for the Blues and a January exit appears to be looming.

RMC Sport are reporting, via Metro, that Zinedine Zidane is eyeing a move for Luiz in the new year in a bid to bolster his faltering Real Madrid side.

The European and Spanish champions have endured an indifferent start to the 2017/18 campaign, dropping points in five of their opening 13 La Liga matches and sitting in fourth place, eight points behind unbeaten leaders Barcelona.

Real's defence in particular has regularly looked shaky, although quite how Luiz, who is widely known to be a player prone to erratic displays, would improve the current situation is anyone's guess.

The Brazil international has also been ruled out of Chelsea's Premier League clash with Swansea City tomorrow due to a knee injury.

Luiz arrived back at Stamford Bridge in a £34 million deal last summer, having originally left the London club in 2014 in a £50 million deal that took him to PSG, where he lifted two Ligue Un titles.

In total over the course of his two stints with the Blues, Luiz has made 193 appearances for the club, scoring 15 goals and has lifted a Premier League title, a Champions League,a Europa League and an FA Cup.
