Barcelona have allowed Martin Montoya to join La Liga rivals Valencia, after cancelling his contract two years early.

The right-back's move to 'Los Che' is believed to be linked to the transfer of Valencia's Andre Gomes to Barca, last week in a deal worth a reported €50 million. Barca winger Cristian Tello has also been linked with a move to Mestalla.

Montoya didn't make many appearances for Barca during his time at Camp Nou, playing just 67 times in five seasons, but he still won three La Liga titles, two Copa Del Reys and a Champions League. Speaking about his move with Valencia's official website, Montoya said:

"Valencia first expressed their interest in me a few months ago. They are a big club, an historic club and I decided to come here."

"We are going to try to get the club back into the Champions League, which is where they belong. I am going to work hard; I promise a lot of dedication, effort and sacrifice. Together we will try to achieve our objectives."
