Newcastle United have already snapped up Chelsea's Christian Atsu and appear to be on course to make their second signing of the transfer window.

Reports via The Mirror, claim that Newcastle have triggered Eibar's Florian Lejeune's £8.7 million release clause.

The central defender will reportedly link up with his new teammates next month as Rafa Benitez gears his charges for the return to the Premier League.

Lejeune was once on the books of Manchester City though never got a run out, spending the season on loan at Girono before completing a deal with La Liga outfit Eibar.

Could he be joined by Tammy Abraham?

After an incredible campaign in the Championship, it appears Abraham is set to ply his trade in the Premier League next season.

The 19-year-old burst onto the scene following his loan spell with Bristol City where he pretty much single handedly kept them in England's second tier.

Abraham bagged an impressive 23 league goals in 41 appearances not to mention a further three goals in the league cup, with just Leeds' Chris Woods the only striker to score more goals than him.

And the same amount as Newcastle's top scorer Dwight Gayle. Though Abraham's goal tally stands out because of the level of talent at Ashton Gate compared to the eventual Championship winners.

After showing his potential with City in the Championship, Chelsea are keen to unleash Abraham in the Premier League, and reports suggest a deal is imminent.

According to The Daily Mail, Newcastle are on the verge of snapping up the talented English frontman on a season-long loan deal.

The potential transfer is set to be completed as a result of Benitez's close relationship with his former employers including Chelsea's technical director Michael Emenalo.

Chelsea were originally expected to promoter their striker to the first-team but the promise of regular first team football has prompted the Premier League champions to allow him to leave on loan to gain more experience.

Newcastle are expected to seal the transfer on the weekend and will beat the likes of fellow newly-minted Premier League club, Brighton, as well as Leicester City.

Benitez will now have Aleksandar Mitrovic, Ayoze Perez and the aforementioned Gayle and Abraham at his disposal ahead of the new season as they continue to bolster their squad in view to holding onto their top flight status.
