Newcastle United are in desperate need of a new striker, so much so that they have reportedly made a move for a striker who hasn't scored a league goal all season.

Sandro Ramirez signed for Everton in the summer and was heralded as one of the bargains of the transfer window, given he'd scored 14 goals in La Liga for Malaga last season and he'd been snapped up for a mere £5.2 million.

But the 22-year old has struggled with a lack of game-time and has just one goal to his name this season - that coming in a 5-1 humbling inflicted by Atalanta in the Europa League in November.

As per Simon Jones from the Daily Mail, Sevilla and Real Betis are keen on bring the former Barcelona man back to Spain but Newcastle have enquired about the Everton No.9, who does not appear to be part of Sam Allardyce's first-team plans.

It's believed Rafa Benitez is interested in a deal whereby Newcastle would pay £2 million for a loan move. They would also pay the full amount of Sandro's £100,000-a-week wages.

The Toon would hope that if he signed, Ramirez would be able to rediscover his goalscoring touch in next-to-no-time after experiencing great difficulty up top this term.

Joselu and Ayoze Perez are the the club's joint-top scorers in the Premier League with four, while Dwight Gayle has netted three in 353 minutes on the pitch.

In other Newcastle transfer news, they are also closing in on the loan signing of Chelsea's Brazilian Kenedy. He was spotted in the city last night and is set to undergo his medical later on today.
