After signing Joselu from Stoke City in the summer transfer window, it appears Newcastle United are eyeing up more attacking talent once the January window opens.

Following promotion back to the Premier League, Rafael Benitez wasn't completely satisfied with his business, but he did manage to snap up a striker.

Benitez drafted in the Spaniard from Stoke City for a reported £5 million, and he's hoping to call upon another Premier League striker.

Newcastle are reportedly keen on signing Liverpool's Danny Ings on a loan deal, according to The Shields Gazette.

Ings enjoyed a prolific spell with Burnley in the Championship which helped his side win promotion to the top flight.

He weighed in with 11 goals in the Premier League which prompted Liverpool to acquire his services. The Red's paid a record £6.5 million for a tribunal fee in 2015.

But he's failed to make an impact with his Liverpool career blighted with a host of injuries.

The 25-year-old returned to action earlier this season as he came off the bench in a League Cup fixture against Leicester City.

However, despite a lack of playing time, Newcastle are prepared to offer him a chance to ply his trade in the Premier League.

His opportunities to play regular football at Anfield are slim with Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino, not to mention summer signing Dominic Solanke, being Jurgen Klopp's main options.

While the lure of first-team football is an attractive proposition, Ings is determined to make things work at Liverpool.

"I have been in a lot of tough situations at previous clubs where it's been hard to break in," he said via The Shields Gazette.

"People from the outside looking in will probably have the assumption 'oh, he's the forgotten man', but it has not crossed my mind at all.

Ings added: "I still believe in myself. I still believe I can play in this team. When you are at a club like Liverpool, it is not a club that you want to walk away from."
