Jose Mourinho just spent a lot of money on an expensive new toy for his Manchester United team and someone else has gone and broken that toy. The United boss will be hoping it's a quick fix.

Last season United found themselves finishing 19 points behind Premier League champions, their fierce, rivals Manchester City and Mourinho needed to set about closing the gap.

He has moved quick this summer with two signings wrapped up over a week before the World Cup starts with Portuguese full back Diogo Dalot following Brazilian midfielder Fred into Old Trafford.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk central midfielder, who was wanted by Manchester City, earlier in the year, is currently getting ready for the World Cup with Brazil.

However his hopes of playing have been dealt a blow after a challenge by fellow midfielder Casemiro in training led to him limping out of the session early:

The 25 year old was seen in pain having taken off his sock and boot after the incident and was having ice applied to his ankle after leaving the session early.

Brazil's doctor spoke about the incident after training saying, "Fred had a trauma to the right ankle and began recovery work. You're still in pain and it's early to make any diagnosis. You have to wait for the first 24 hours. "

United haven't yet completed the £55 million deal for the former Internacional player but it will be done very soon.

Jose Mourinho hold his breath for good news.
