Naby Keita Could Be Sold After Just One Season At Liverpool

The former RB Leipzig midfielder had to wait to join the Premier League but could be about to return to Germany a year later.

Liverpool agreed to sign Naby Keita from RB Leipzig back in September 2017 but had to wait nine months to get their man, now he could be leaving Anfield after just a season with the Reds.

Jurgen Klopp really wanted to sign Naby Keita in the summer of 2017 but RB Leipzig really didn't want to let their prized possession leave so the Reds missed out on the Bundesliga star.

However the midfielder had a transfer release clause for the following summer so just after the transfer window had closed the Premier League side agreed to sign Keita from his German club.

Months of Liverpool fans looking out for clips from Leipzig games followed and they rightly got excited about a player who was lighting up the German top tier.

Keita arrived at Anfield last summer along with Fabinho, who signed from Monaco, as Klopp made sure that he had more options in midfield compared to the previous season where a lack of squad depth hampered them.

The 24 year old Guinean started life well enough at Anfield but James Milner, Fabinho and Georginio Wijnaldum are now ahead of him in the pecking order.

According to Team Talk, Klopp is considering letting him go just a year after he arrived in Merseyside and could let him go for £40 million, taking a £10 million hit.

The report suggests that Bundesliga clubs Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, who are locked together at the top of the table, could both be interested in bringing the African back to Germany.

His two years with Leipzig were very impressive and he scored 14 goals in 58 league appearances for them and he's yet to find the back of the net in the Premier League.

Both the top two sides in Germany were interested in signing Keita before he moved to the Premier League.

Keita could yet finish his first, and possibly only, season in England as a Premier League champion but with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain soon to come back into contention for Klopp's side he could be pushed further down the pecking order.

The former RB Salzburg midfielder hasn't been a disaster in England but he hasn't shone as much as he had previously and it wouldn't be a huge surprise to see him leave.

Should Liverpool sell Keita?
