Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might only be on loan at Manchester United essentially and you'd expect that Molde would want him back but according to the man himself his 'former' side don't want him to return.

Not many people thought Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be the next Manchester United manager before he replaced Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford and even when it happened few people thought he'd be there past May.

Things have changed a hell of a lot since December, when Mourinho's 3-1 loss to Liverpool saw him lose the job, and after ten games in a row unbeaten Solskjaer is suddenly being talked about as the leading candidate for the job long term.

The former United striker had been managing in his home country Norway before his move back to Manchester, where he was in charge at Molde for the second time.

The Premier League side had to pay a fee for him to join them till the end of the season and if they want to keep him any longer they'll have to pay more.

Considering his current success you'd expect Molde would want Solskjaer back but the manager revealed that's not the case, saying:

"When I rang the owner and said that United had called and that he always knew that this had been my dream, he said: 'Go over, enjoy yourself - and please don't come back.'

"Both owners wished me all the best because they knew this is something I dreamed about.

"To get the backing from them was fantastic. If I go back to Molde, I will do my best for them - but it depends when I go back."

It's fair to say that the 1999 Champions League winning goal scorer has been enjoying himself back at Old Trafford.

His team won their first eight games in a row, beating a club record, before drawing the next game against Burnley from 2-0 down and then beating Leicester.

The 13 time Premier League winners are now back in the race to finish in the top four, are still in the FA Cup after a win away to Arsenal, and are certainly more positive about their chances against PSG in the Champions League.

Perhaps Molde don't want him back because of how much money it'll make them, either way it's starting to look less and less like their choice.
