Could one of Pep Guardiola's best players be about to make the move to Serie A?

Things are going pretty well for Manchester City and Pep Guardiola right now but the last thing they'll want is for anything to harm their momentum. So one of their best players being eyed up isn't ideal.

Despite a draw with Everton at the end of August, Pep Guardiola's side have been running wild in September with 24 goals coming in six games, all of which they've won, as they've got to the summit of the Premier League.

On top of that they've also picked up six points in the Champions League and made it through to the next round of the Carabao Cup, all before their big test on Saturday when they take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

With the attacking options they have it really is no surprise that they're flying. They did hit a bump today with the news that Benjamin Mendy could be out for the rest of the season with a serious ligament injury.

But according to Spanish newspaper AS there could be more cause for concern. The report says that both AC and Inter Milan are scouting a move for David Silva and the Spaniard's contract talks have 'stagnated.'

The 31 year old isn't in any immediate danger of leaving the northwest of England as his contract doesn't run out until 2019 but talks over a renewal started months ago and apparently haven't moved at all recently.

That could lead to City thinking it is better to make money on him in the summer rather than allowing him to go on a free the year later, especially as he would already be 32 in the summer.

Despite all the money spent by Pep Guardiola in the last couple of years, including bringing Bernardo Silva in this summer, the former Valencia player remains an integral part to his team and has started all six league games this season, making six goals in the process.

It doesn't look like Silva is any threat of leaving the Etihad just yet but if there's no movement on his new deal soon that could change.
