Matthijs de Ligt has his eyes set on a move to Barcelona, to join fellow Ajax star Frenkie de Jong, and is ready to reject other moves to see if the La Liga giants come calling.

Ajax proved last week that no team left in the Champions League should underestimate them as they came from behind to embarrass Real Madrid at the Bernabeu and get through to the quarter finals for the first time since 2003.

There were a lot of excellent performances all around the pitch from the Dutch side with Dusan Tadic becoming only the ninth player to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in L'Equipes famously harsh player ratings.

Two other players stood out on the night with Frenkie de Jong fulfilling the promise he made to Barcelona when he signed for them in January by helping to knock their rivals out of the competition, for the first time since Juventus managed it in 2015.

De Jong is one of the most talented young players in Europe and playing in the defence behind him was another, Matthijs de Ligt.

The 19 year old centre back was impervious in defence and he's another player wanted throughout Europe, should he become available, and he could join De Jong in Spain.

According to Mundo Deportivo the Dutchman is ready to shun offers from some of Europe's other elite sides in order to make sure he gets a move to the Camp Nou.

Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid have all been linked with a summer move for the teenager but the La Liga leaders are his preference.

In an interview last week Barca club president Josep Maria Bartomeu said, 'His name is on the table,' when talking about De Ligt, adding, 'Where there is such talent away from Barcelona, we're always looking at them.'

Ernesto Valverde's team added French defender Jean-Clair Todibo to their squad in January, after he was initially meant to join in the summer, and it seemed to end any chance of De Ligt joining.

The Dutch international's performance last week added with the president's admission that they are looking at the youngster suggests that could all change in the summer.

Where will De Ligt be playing next season?
