Manchester United Set To Make A Signing But Not The One They Need

Manchester United Set To Make A Signing But Not The One They Need

The Premier League side are struggling in the transfer market but this deal won't really help Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side this season.

Manchester United look set to complete at least one transfer before the window closes on Monday night, but it's not any of the deals fans would be hoping for.

There can't be many United fans left with actual hope of signing Jadon Sancho before the transfer window 'slams' shut at 11pm on Monday.

The Premier League side have reportedly started looking at alternatives, with talks reportedly starting with Edinson Cavani over a free move.

Whilst fans of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team spend the next few days glued to Sky Sports News praying for good news, they do look like making a signing.

According to RMC, via Sport Witness, the club are expected to land 16-year-old centre back Willy Kambwala for €4 million, plus bonuses, from Sochaux.

The teenager is expected to travel to Manchester this weekend to sort out his deal, ahead of the window closing.

Despite his young age, Kambwala is highly rated and United failed with a €1 million offer earlier in the summer, with Liverpool also linked with him.

The youngster is already 6"4 and considered a 'powerhouse of a defender.' However it's not like he could partner Eric Bailly straightaway.

United were linked with senior centre backs earlier in the summer, with Dayot Upamecano reportedly a target, with Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof criticised for their form.

Eric Bailly has returned from injury whilst the club have also been unable to offload Chris Smalling and Marco Rojo so far, leaving the team with eight centre backs in the squad.

18-year-old Teden Mengi has also been promoted to the first team so there's plenty of space for Kambwala in the reserves.

Elsewhere in defence United have also been heavily linked with Alex Telles from Porto, although so far no deal has been able to be agreed between the clubs.

With just a few days left till the transfer window closes fans would love their senior recruitment to go as well as signing the likes of Kambwala.
