Manchester United will have a big summer clear out of six players, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tries to fund moves for Jadon Sancho and two more players.

Solskjaer's team are right in the battle for a top four spot after a change in form since the Premier League restarted, winning four and drawing two and taking their undefeated run to 18 games in all competitions.

However the club don't want to be competing for top four finishes and instead is aiming to be in the title race going forward, and that could mean a big summer.

United are looking to sell up to six players this summer, according to the Telegraph, with Alexis Sanchez, Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones, Jesse Lingard and Diogo Dalot all available for sale.

In return the manager wants to sign Borussia Dortmund forward Sancho, as well as a central defender and a striker.

Whilst the 13 time Premier League champions are thought to be one of the clubs who will still have money to spend in the transfer window this summer, the manager's funds will have been affected by Covid-19 and selling players will help with high profile, expensive targets.

Selling Sanchez would help bring in transfer funds and certainly bring down the wage bill at Old Trafford, with the Chilean reportedly earning £350,000-per-week plus bonuses.

He has spent this season on loan at Inter and his recent form has impressed in Italy, creating 10 chances in the match against Torino on Monday night and assisting two of the goals.

Smalling and Rojo have also been on loan this season and could make their moves to Roma and Estudiantes permanent for next season.

Jones time at United has been beset by injuries and he is currently fourth choice centre back, at best, with West Ham reportedly interested.

The Hammers are also interested in Lingard, who has started just nine league games this season and found chances to play harder to come by as the season has gone on, especially with the introduction of Fernandes.

Dalot has never broken through as the first choice right back and is unlikely to get ahead of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, whilst Brandon Williams can fill in there and United have youngster Ethan Laird coming through.

Solskjaer is hoping to add more strength in central defence to play alongside Harry Maguire, with Kalidou Koulibaly and Milan Skriniar both thought to be on his wanted list.

Though Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood have all been amongst the goals this season, the manager wants to add a central striker to lift some of the burden off the front three.
