Manchester United Have Opened Talks With Zlatan Ibrahimovic Over A New Deal

The Swedish striker is officially without a club after his deal ended but he could end up back at Manchester United very soon.

One fleeting season of Zlatan Ibrahimovic is all we got after years of being desperate to see the legend in the Premier League. However when all looked lost now we have hope with the Swede reportedly in talks with Manchester United again.

At 35 there were questions if the former PSG striker could actually do it in England. He didn't disappoint. In fact the only disappointing part was when he got injured and his season and time in England were over prematurely.

Zlatan only had a one year deal to stay at Old Trafford with another year as an option should the club and player decide it was mutually beneficial. The ACL injury he picked up in the dying minutes of the Europa League quarter final against Anderlecht put paid to that.

He is due to be out until December so paying him £300k-a-week to be injured never would have been in United's plans. There was always a chance they could re-sign him later in the season.

However now things are even more positive for United with Sky Italia, via Sky Sports, reporting that the two parties have already begun discussions over a deal to re-sign the striker.

Ibra has been doing some of his rehab from the injury at United's training ground in Carrington and last month when asked about the possibility of signing him when he was fit Mourinho said, "Why not wait for such a good player that gave us so much?"

The player did seem to suggest that his time in England was over in a post on Instagram in June:

A move to the MLS or a return to Italy with AC Milan has previously been rumoured but there's no doubt that the former Juve striker has unfinished business in the Premier League.

Though he's not expected to be fit until December he would still provide a major boost to United at the midway point of the season, whilst videos on social media suggest he could be ahead of schedule:

Our calls for Zlatan in England were thankfully heard once, now let's hope they are heard a second time!
