It appears Manchester United's Summer spending spree could continue.

Jose Mourinho has kept to his word of a United overhaul by drafting in Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Eric Bailly and Paul Pogba.

Despite already bolstering his defence with the recruit of £30 million Ivorian defender, reports have surfaced that Mourinho is eyeing up fellow compatriot Jose Fonte.

Southampton opened their Premier League campaign with a 1-1 draw with Watford after going behind new-boy Nathan Redmond bagged his first Saints goal earning the one point.

But unfortunately for the United representatives, Jose Fonte was an unused substitute. Would you believe it. New gaffer Claude Puel opted for the defensive pairing of Maya Yoshida and Virgil van Dijk.

The 32-year-old defender has been at St Mary's since 2009 enjoying promotions from League 1 and then the Championship, eventually finding home in the Premier League.

Fonte has since compiled 267 appearances in all competitions as well as starring for Portugal in the Euro's.
