January is approaching which means an avalanche of transfer speculation is about to hit us, and the rumours mills are already in overdrive as reports in Spain are linking Manchester United with a move for Barcelona's Ivan Rakitic.
The Croatian is being eyed up by Jose Mourinho as he negotiates a new contract extension but according to Mundo Deportivo, if the club don't act sharpish it could pave the way for a move to England.
Rakitic is currently tied down to the club until 2019 but this hasn't stopped the Catalan giants reaching for a new deal at the Nou Camp after proving to be a pivotal player for Luis Enrique's side.
The midfielder rose to prominence following his exploits in the La Liga with Sevilla, as well as the contributions he was churning out for his national side, prompting Barca to swoop in acquiring his services in 2014 where he's since won back-to-back league titles in 2014 and the Champions league in 2015, among others.

Teammates Neymar, Sergio Busquets, and Javier Mascherano have all put pen-to-paper on new deals recently while Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi appear to be close to prolonging their stay. The report further indicates that the 28-year-old is also subject to interest from Juventus and even Real Madrid.
