Manchester City are flying in the Premier League, and have booked their spot in the next round of the Champions League. But Pep Guardiola remains keen on bolstering his side once the transfer window reopens in January.

City kept up their impressive league form by beating Leicester City 2-0 on the weekend.

While Pep Guardiola turns his attention to the Champions League, he's also got an eye on the January market. And it appears he's plotting a bid.

According to reports via ESPN, City are keen on signing Riyad Mahrez who remains subject to intense transfer speculation.

The Algerian winger was heavily linked with a move away in the summer window but no transfer came to fruition.

Arsenal were supposedly on the verge of signing Mahrez on deadline day until their interest waned.

He's also reportedly attracting interest from Barcelona. Though it's believed that Lionel Messi has nixed the proposed deal.

As a result of Barcelona removing their name from the hat, it's opened the path for City with Guardiola preparing an offer.

The Spanish boss already boasts an incredible depth of attacking talent, but with City fighting on all fronts - which will also include the FA Cup in January, he's hoping to strengthen his squad ahead of the second half of the season.
