Manchester City Linked With Shock Move For Former Liverpool Player

It's certainly not a transfer

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Manchester City are looking to make "three or four more signings" in the summer window, but the latest transfer rumour is one that City fans definitely did not expect.

Turkish outlet Fanatik are today reporting that Manchester City are looking at Fenerbahce defender Martin Skrtel.

The Slovakian spent eight years at Liverpool between 2008 and 2016 and was heavily linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium when Roberto Mancini was in charge of the Blues.

And the rumour has popped up again, with Fanatik saying that despite Skrtel appearing to be the exact opposite to what Pep Guardiola looks for in a centre-back, the Blues will put a wage offer of 4 million-a-year after tax on the table for the 32-year old.

Skrtel joined Fenerbahce for a fee of £5 million last summer and his form in his debut season in Turkey has attracted interest from Newcastle United, Stoke City and Swansea.

Fenerbahce boss, Aykut Kocaman played down any talk of Skrtel leaving the club and stated he was happy at the club - something that the former Zenit man echoed.

But that hasn't squashed exit talk, as the City links have proved.

Here's how Twitter reacted to the story that City are interested in a player who couldn't stop scoring against the Blues during his time as a Liverpool player:

Are we calling bullshit on this one or what?

Sound off in the comments.
