Pep Guardiola is building an impressive Manchester City side as their recent form has pointed towards the kind of form they are capable of. Next season they are likely to be even stronger and this signing certainly suggests so.

City started the season winning their opening 10 games of the season and looking like they might walk away with the Premier League title with some ease, that seems a lifetime ago now.

Then they bumped into quite a big blip as their defensive frailties were there for all to see. They are now unbeaten in nine games, with their last loss against Everton in January.

Attacking players Gabriel Jesus, Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling have really shown what they are capable of in recent weeks.

However according to the Sun their attacking abilities could be even stronger next season. The newspaper says Pep Guardiola is confident of signing Isco from Real Madrid.

The report says that the Manchester club are already close to agreeing a £30 million move for the Spaniard and have got themselves ahead of Juventus and Chelsea for the signing.

The 24 year-old has only got just over one year left on his deal at the Bernabeu and is almost certainly going to leave Los Blancos in the summer.

Spurs have long been linked with a move for the player too but it looks like Guardiola's side have stolen a march on everyone as they'll no doubt battle for the title next season.

Under Manuel Pellegrini the Etihad club tried to sign Isco but the former Malaga man decided to chose Real over a reunion with his former manager.

Isco has made just 12 starts in La Liga this season but scored six goals and made five assists.

He could be the perfect young replacement for David Silva as Guardiola tries to reduce the average age of his squad.
