For a while at the beginning of the season it looked like Manchester City might casually stroll off into the sunset with the title. However things haven't proved to be that easy for Pep Guardiola and now he wants to strengthen his defence.
Guardiola seemed to be taking like a duck to water when he first moved to England. City went the first 10 games of the season, in all competitions, without picking up so much as a draw, never mind a loss, and they seemed to be early title favourites.
They then had a mini collapse when they failed to win any of the next six games, starting with Celtic's draw in the Champions League. Since then things have been a little inconsistent with City dropping to fifth in the table.

The one place Guardiola would like to strengthen is defence. With Vincent Kompany out injured once again and the Spaniard sometimes liking to move to a three at the back he prefers someone who can play centre back and left back and that's why he's reportedly after Spurs defender Ben Davies.
Check out what could have been for Spurs:
According to The Sun, City are willing to spend £20 million to bring the former Swansea City defender to the Etihad Stadium as Guardiola looks for more depth after missing out on Bayern's Holger Badstuber.

Davies was only used as a full back for Swansea and initially at Spurs but he has played on the left of three centre backs for Wales and has also done that job for Mauricio Pochettino's team recently.
The Welshman came on yesterday when Jan Vertonghen limped off in Spurs' win over West Brom and the length of the Belgian's absence could affect whether or not the North London club are willing to sell Davies.
Guardiola had wanted Badstuber, who he worked with at Bayern, but the German decided to join Schalke on loan till the end of the season leaving Pep to target his rival's player.
Davies' eligibility as a home grown player is also reportedly interesting Chelsea.
