Manchester City Closing In On Three Summer Signings

Manchester City Closing In On Three Summer Signings

Because Pep Guardiola's side clearly need so much improvement right now.

Manchester City's lead in the Premier League was increased this weekend as their championship crowning date was brought forward. Despite that Pep Guardiola is on the verge of adding three talented players to his squad.

I was genuinely involved in a conversation with two City fans this morning where they both made their suspicion that they could still blow the title be known. I instantly told them to shut up as no one was buying the false modesty, or whatever it was.

City fans claiming they don't know if they'll win the league or not need to be on the end of one of these two footers:

Pep Guardiola's side are now 16 points clear of closest rivals Manchester United after the latter's loss against Newcastle United on Sunday and with their rivals penchant for dropping points it seems more likely than not that the title will be wrapped up by the derby on April 7th.

City will be eyeing just how many trophies they can win this season with an unprecedented quadruple still possible as they're still in the Champions League and FA Cup and have the Carabao Cup final to look forward to.

Despite all this Guardiola is looking at how to improve his squad for next season and according to the Times the Citizens are on the verge of signing Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk as well as youngsters Philippe Sandler from Zwolle and Claudio Gomes from PSG.

City wanted to sign Brazilian midfielder Fred in the January transfer window, you know just in case or something, but Shakhtar didn't want to sell at the time but talks are believed to have continued and he's expected to join for £50 million possibly on July 1st.

The 24 year old, who replaced Fernandinho for the Ukrainians when his fellow Brazilian moved to Manchester City, was also a target for Manchester United but he looks bound for the Premier League champions elect.

The other two signings are both less well known. 21 year old Sandler, a Dutch under 21 international, has started 13 Eredivisie games for Zwolle so far this season with the side currently sitting fifth in the Dutch league.

17 year-old Gomes, who plays in midfield, is yet to play in the PSG first team but he is highly rated and signing for City in the summer would no doubt be a blow to his current team and some of Europe's other big sides.

Will City's superiority continue next season?
