Since Manchester City announced that Pep Guardiola would be joining as manager, the transfer gossip columns haven't stopped producing story after story.

City have been linked with a number of Guardiola's former players but his first signing was Borussia Dortmund's midfielder İlkay Gündoğan in a deal reported to be worth £20 million. And it appears he could be set to sign his second Manchester City player.

According to Goal, City have seen off competition from Barcelona to sign Benjamin Garre from Argentine side Velez Sarsfield.

Although not many would have heard about the 15-year-old before, he is considered one of the best players of his generation in Argentina.

City are expected to pay minimal compensation for Garre, who has spent time at rivals Manchester United in the past.
