Pep Guardiola might have the hardest job of any manager in the Premier League, after all how do you improve that Manchester City side? The first step is apparently to sign Jorginho.

Manchester City scored more goals and won more points than any team in a season in the history of the Premier League, beating two different Chelsea side's former records as they waltzed away with the league title.

However with City being so dominant last season it's now up to the chasing pack to improve their sides and need to spend a lot of money to do so.

Already Liverpool have improved their midfield with the signing of Fabinho from Monaco wrapped up in super quick time this week and Naby Keita from RB Leipzig.

Now it looks like City are close to getting their hands on their number one midfield target with Calcio Napoli reporting that they have agreed terms with Napoli midfielder Jorginho.

The two clubs are yet to agree a deal for the player but it looks like an offer of €50M isn't far off being agreed.

Guardiola's side need another midfielder with Yaya Toure's time at the Etihad having come to an end and Fernandinho already being 33, at 26 Jorginho's legs will be much fresher.

City had been linked with a move for Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred and made a move for the Brazilian in January but he now looks destined for a move to Old Trafford.

The Brazilian born midfielder has played for Italy six times but couldn't help them qualify for this summer's World Cup.

He has played for Napoli for the last four years, since moving from Verona, and helped them win the Copa Italia in 2014.

Napoli finished second in Serie A this season and had the best chance to end Juventus' dominance but fell away towards the end.

It's unlikely that Jorginho will have similar issues in Manchester.

Good to see Guardiola isn't letting the pressure of having to somehow improve his side get to him.
