The lucrative contracts in the Chinese Super League aren't enough to lure a Manchester United star to the Far East.

Juan Mata is out of contract at the end of the season, so he's been attracting plenty of interest from Asia.

But, per The Mirror, the creative midfield has rejected approaches from Chinese clubs, while opting to remain at Old Trafford who are set to activate a one-year extension.

United have an option to trigger an additional 12 months on his current contract.

As well as Mata, fellow Spaniard Ander Herrera is also set to be tabled a new deal.

Just like his teammate, Herrera has also entered the final year of his United contract, though the club are expected to hold onto his services by offering an extension.

He's failed to nail down a spot in Jose Mourinho's starting XI this season following the summer arrival of Nemanja Matic.

Though he's set to play alongside the Serbian after injuries to Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini, when they travel to Liverpool for Saturday's huge clash.

Will Mata also play a role this weekend?

Ahead of the heavyweight league match-up, Mata has claimed it's one of the biggest games of the season.

"This is one of the big games of the season without a doubt," he said via Liverpool Echo.

"There's no need to say what it means for us and for our fans, and I hope that we can play a great game and take the three points to Manchester.

"We will try to extend our good run of results since the season started.

Mata added: "I also hope that none of my team-mates has physical problems in the second game with the national teams as it was the case with (Marouane) Fellaini, to whom I wish a speedy recovery."
