It's not met their valuation...

Mamadou Sakho is not wanted by Jurgen Klopp or Liverpool but that doesn't mean the Reds will let the centre-back leave on the cheap this summer window.

The former PSG man joined Crystal Palace on loan in January last season and played a pivotal role in steering the Eagles away from the relegation zone.

He kept three clean sheets in his first three games with the club and only lost two of the eight games he featured in as the club finished in 14th place, seven points clear of relegated Hull City, who ended the campaign.

Sakho's Liverpool future has looked bleak ever since his falling out with boss Jurgen Klopp, and despite the change in management at Selhurst Park, where former Ajax manager Frank De Boer replaced Sam Allardyce at the helm, Palace's interest remains.

West Brom and Leicester are also keeping tabs, but Sakho's preference is believed to Palace.

Reports earlier today claimed that Palace had basically sewn up a deal for Sakho, with The Guardian's Dominic Fifield one of many credible journalists to share the news.

However, it soon materalised that the two clubs are still yet to reach an agreement in terms of a fee, with the Liverpool Echo, among others, saying that the Reds had turned down an offer of £25 million, for the centre-back.

The £25 million bid, made up of a £22 million fee upfront and a further £3 million due in add-ons, is the third unsuccessful proposal from Palace, with Liverpool understood to be holding out for £30 million for their out-of-favour defender.

As per Neil Jones, from the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool slapped a £30 million price tag on the France international back in June, and having seen Sakho perform well last term, coupled with Palace's desperate need to strengthen after a dismal start to the new campaign, are refusing to sell for anything less than their set valuation.
