Liverpool Eye Up Ambitious Loan Move In January

Liverpool Eye Up Ambitious Loan Move In January

The Reds are hoping to add a World Cup winner to their squad in the winter window.

Jurgen Klopp might have been looking at his defenders with a bit of anger in his eyes after Tuesday night. However it is another attacking player who the Liverpool manager is eyeing up for a January move.

When Liverpool took a 3-0 lead before half-time against Sevilla in the Champions League on Tuesday night there would have been a lot of smiling faces in the away dressing room during the break.

However by full-time they'd done a reverse Istanbul, or a Sevilstanbul, by throwing away that lead. The Spanish side struck their third in injury time to make it 3-3 and leave the Reds crestfallen.

So you wouldn't be surprised if Klopp was looking to fix his side's defensive frailties. The fifth place Premier League side have conceded more goals than any other team in the top seven and only two of the top 10 have conceded more.

But it seems that it isn't the priority for the German. According to L'Equipe, via the Liverpool Echo, the former Borussia Dortmund manager has contacted PSG over the possibility of taking Julian Draxler on loan in January.

Quite frankly Draxler's departure from the French capital has been spoken about nearly as much as Philippe Coutinho's from Liverpool ever since his side signed Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

The arrival of those two superstars has given the German less chance to play in a forward role that he is used to and instead he's played deeper, often as part of a midfield three.

Of course should Liverpool eventually lose Coutinho to Barcelona then a move for Draxler would make a hell of a lot of sense but without one going out it's hard to see where he'd fit in at Anfield.

On the other hand a move to the Emirates to join Arsenal, who have also long been linked with the Confederations Cup player of the tournament, could also happen if one of Alexis Sanchez or Mesut Ozil leaves.

Draxler would be an excellent addition for anyone, but surely Liverpool need defenders?
