Newly promoted Leeds United are hoping to bring PSG's Julian Draxler to Elland Road, although the Germany midfielder has so far rejected their attempts.

Leeds have already signed Rodrigo from Valencia this summer and, according to French outlet RMC, want to add Draxler to their signings.

The report claims that so far the 26-year-old is rejecting any approach to leave PSG as he wants to stay in Paris, and has already rejected offers from the Bundesliga.

Reports in France last week claimed that the Ligue 1 champions needed to raise £54 million to offset the financial implications caused by Coronavirus.

According to L'Equipe the club want to sell Draxler, as well as former Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye, whilst goalkeeper Alphonse Areola looks set to leave for Fulham.

The former Wolfsburg midfielder only has one year left on his contract at the Parc des Princes but is happy with life in the French capital and will only leave if a project appeals to him.

The Germany international started both the team's Nations League games in the past week, as they drew 1-1 with Spain and Switzerland, but he may need to leave to keep his place in the side.

Speaking ahead of the Swiss game, manager Joachim Loew said, "For Julian, at his age, it would be important to take a step to find regular playing time. It's important for every player to be in action week after week."

With the Euros coming up next summer, the former Schalke player could find himself out of the reckoning for Loew side if he doesn't find more game time.

Leeds are returning to the Premier League for the first time in 15 years, having spent time in the third tier during that spell, after winning the Championship last season.

Marcelo Bielsa's side kick off their campaign against champions Liverpool, in one of the highlights of the opening weekend.

So far the Yorkshire club have added Rodrigo, Robin Koch and Joe Gelhardt to the squad, whilst Helder Costa and Illan Meslier have joined permanently, having been on loan last season.
