Lazio sporting director Igli Tare hasn't held back in his short but punchy response to the news that David Silva snubbed the Serie A side to sign for Real Sociedad.

Silva left Manchester City at the end of the season and looked to be headed for a move to the Italian capital after agreeing terms with Lazio.

However on Monday night he surprised everyone as it was announced that he moved to La Liga with Sociedad instead. Now Lazio have replied with a short statement.

On the club website Tare simply said, "I learnt about David Silva's transfer to Real Sociedad. I have great respect for the player, but not for the man."

The Serie A side reportedly had a three year deal agreed for the player but Sociedad contacted him secretly and he changed his mind, despite the Biancocelesti reportedly offered the player a private jet and house as part of the deal.

It's no surprise that Lazio are angry to find out that they weren't going to sign a play of Silva's class who they'd previously thought was going to be theirs.

The former Valencia midfielder's impact at the Etihad Stadium has been unquestionable in the past 10 years in the Premier League.

In 436 appearances in all competitions the 34-year-old helped the club win four Premier League titles, including their famous first one thanks to Sergio Aguero's late goal against QPR, as well as two FA Cups and five League Cups.

He's also a World Cup and two time European Championship winner with Spain so there was no surprise that it was a hard fought battle to sign him on a free as he was leaving England.

On Monday City paid tribute to Silva as he left the club and chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak revealed that the club would be erecting a statue of the midfielder outside the stadium.

The player also sent an open letter to the fans, thanking them for his support.
