Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez will sign for Atletico Madrid this summer, according to former Inter striker Nicola Ventola.

Martinez has been an integral part of Inter's Serie A title win this season, the club's first in 10 years, and has been improving ever since joining in 2018.

The Argentine has been strongly linked with a move to Barcelona over the past two summers, whilst links with Real Madrid and PSG have also been reported.

However according to Ventola, who played for Inter over two spells in the late 90s and early 00s, he's off to La Liga leaders Atleti instead.

"I'm going to drop the bomb: a little bird has told me that Lautaro will play for Atlético Madrid," the former Atalanta striker said on a Twitch stream with fellow former Inter striker Christian Vieri, according to AS.

"They told me that everything is arranged and they are going to pay him a lot of money."

Despite all the focus at the San Siro being on the title win, all isn't well with the Nerazzurri with the club in huge debt.

Chinese owners Suning closed down their Chinese Super League team earlier this year and are looking to find investment in the Italian champions.

Reports have claimed the club have asked for players to waive two months of their wages as they hope to secure the finances.

Despite that Martinez is reportedly in talks to sign a new deal and if Diego Simeone's side want to sign the striker it's likely to cost them at least £70 million.

The 23-year-old was angry with manager Antonio Conte earlier this season when the Italian subbed off the former Racing Club forward after bringing him on earlier in the win over Roma.

However, the following day, Romelu Lukaku set up a joke boxing fight at training for the pair to bury the hatchet over, ending in an embrace.

Martinez's potential move to Atleti could be to replace Luis Suarez, who has hinted at a move to the MLS, just a year after moving to the Wanda Metropolitano last summer.

The striker is also reportedly on Pep Guardiola's wishlist to replace Sergio Aguero at the Premier League champions.
