Following the sale of Leonardo Bonucci to fierce rivals AC Milan, Juventus are now in the market to replace his services ahead of defending the Serie A title.

AC Milan continued their incredible and ridiculous summer transfer splurge by adding the Italian defender to their ranks. He joins the likes of Andre Silva, Hakan Calhanoglu and Franck Kessie, to name but a few.

Milan's gain is Juventus' lose. And the Italian champions have now reportedly named the defender they want to fill Bonucci's void. According to Goal, Juventus are plotting an offer for Borussia Dortmund's Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

The 29-year-old is subject to intense transfer speculation with some of Premier Leagues finest keeping an eye on him. Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal are all believed to be keen on the Greek international.

Juventus have now joined the race. While the Bundesliga outfit are reluctant to sell, Massimiliano Allegri is hellbent on snapping him up as he seeks to bolster his defence.

Despite the club having no intention of selling him, reports suggests that Sokratis could be tempted with one final big payday.

Sokratis has been a regular starter for Dortmund since completing his move from Werder Bremen in 2013. Last season, he featured in 26 league games adding two goals from defence.

He's not the only defender on Dortmund's books to be linked with a move away from the Westfalenstadion. As well as Sokratis, Marc Bartra is also on United's transfer radar, while Sven Bender has already completed his move to fellow German side Bayer Leverkusen.
