Juventus Set For Extremely Strange Signing From Arsenal

The Serie A champions have signed Cristiano Ronaldo this summer and their latest move is quite the change from the former Real Madrid star.

Certain transfer deals make all the sense in the world and can be spotted from a million miles off. Other deals leave us a little more speechless and Juventus are about to pull one of those off with an Arsenal youngster.

Even when Cristiano Ronaldo said he wanted to leave Real Madrid, in the immediate aftermath of their third Champions League win in a row, it seemed unlikely that he'd actually move from the Bernabeu.

When he completed his £80 million move to Juventus it still came as a shock to most people, after all he'd only won his fifth Ballon d'Or earlier in the year, who sells that kind of commodity?

Manchester City finally signing Riyad Mahrez, on the other hand, hardly came as a shock to the system considering Pep Guardiola has tracked him through the previous two transfer windows.

Juve though have decided that they aren't done with the shock signings and, with less than a day left of the Italian transfer window, are set to complete probably the most bizarre deal of the whole window.

According to Sky Sports the Italian champions are set to complete the signing of Arsenal striker Stephy Mavididi before Friday's 7pm deadline for Italian sides.

The Evening Standard reports that Mavididi, a 20 year old, travelled to Turin for his medical on Thursday and will make the £500,000 move to the Old Lady tomorrow. A huge contrast in the deal for Ronaldo.

Mavididi has been with Arsenal since before turning professional in 2015 but he is yet to play for the Gunners and has spent most of his time at the club on loan with Preston North End and Charlton Athletic.

He played 12 times for Charlton in League One last season, scoring two goals in the process, before returning to the Emirates in the summer.

The England under 20s player isn't likely to be playing for the first team but will instead play for Juve's under 23s team, who will play in Serie C.

It is the first time in 88 years that a team's 'B team' have been offered a place in the third tier of Italian football and the Old Lady are trying to sign up the best young talent for the team.

There's no way Mavididi, or anyone else, could have seen this one coming.
