Jurgen Klopp Drops Hint At Which Goalkeeper He Could Sign

Both Mignolet and Karius have come under pressure for their performances.

Most people aren't convinced that either of Liverpool's two main goalkeepers are good enough for the side. Jurgen Klopp isn't convinced that's the case but he has dropped a hint over who he might be interested in to replace them.

Does anyone know who Liverpool's number one actually is? Loris Karius wears it on the back of his shirt but that hasn't stopped Simon Mignolet being the go to man between the sticks on most occasions.

Karius was brought in last season but played just 10 Premier League games to Mignolet's 28. This season the former Sunderland man has once again been the go to but the last two games have seen Karius take the gloves.

Once again though the 24 year old is under pressure after he could have done better with at least one of Manchester City's goals in the Reds 4-3 win. It has led to many thinking Jurgen Klopp should buy a new 'goalie.'

Talking in his press conference this week, via the Liverpool Echo, Klopp suggested he'd rather his players got better but his mention of one other keeper hinted he's got his eyes on him:

"My favourite solution, always, is that we do it with our boys. They step up, they deliver, they improve. The problem they have is that everyone is watching them (through a magnifying glass) and saying 'still not good enough!

"I will only mention one name. Everyone talks about him with us and that is Butland. I only saw the game (against Manchester United). Fantastic goalkeeper but was he perfect? No. He wasn't in that game. But everyone says 'still better than our boys!

"It makes no real sense if he comes in and makes a mistake in his first game. Everyone then says 'we need another and another one and another one'. We have to cool down. These boys all have big quality."

Whilst Klopp ended by saying it would make no sense to bring him in to see him questioned in his first game it does make interesting reading that he would specifically name drop Butland.

The Reds have also been linked with bringing Jan Oblak from Atletico Madrid to Anfield. Klopp might not want to make a change right now but Butland could be available cheap if Stoke were to be relegated.

For now the German will be hoping that Karius is the right choice to lead them to a top four finish in the league!
