Jose Mourinho Has Two Midfielders On His Summer Wishlist

Romelu Lukaku recently revealed he was Jose Mourinho's on field sergeant but he was also doing the manager's bidding off the pitch too last night talking about transfers and Mourinho has his eyes on two central midfielders.

Despite some criticism in the middle part of the season it's mainly been a good first season at Old Trafford for Romelu Lukaku. Lots of goals at the beginning of the season when United were looking good and lots of goals recently too.

The former Chelsea forward was brought in by the man who sold him at Stamford Bridge and he recently talked about becoming his manager's sergeant on the pitch.

After yesterday's game against Brighton he towed the party line by revealing the Red Devils would spend in the summer, saying, "We are Manchester United, we have to improve every year and I know that a lot of players, a lot of good players, will come in next summer. That's for sure."

Not that it's a surprise that Mourinho would look to add to his squad for next season. A defensive midfielder is likely to be atop target and according to the Daily Mail Shakhtar Donetsk's Fred and Juventus' Blaise Matuidi are top of his wishlist.

With Michael Carrick retiring and Marouane Fellaini likely to be leaving Old Trafford with his contract set to expire a central midfielder is a must for United and Fred or Matuidi could help unleash Paul Pogba in a three man midfielder.

Fred has long been linked with a move to Manchester but it had been thought it would be Manchester City that he would sign for, with the move reported in January, but it now doesn't seem that clear.

Matuidi could join France teammate Pogba in moving from Juventus to United.

The Mail also report that United could come back in for Ivan Perisic after failing to sign the Inter Milan winger in the summer but that would lead to Anthony Martial dropping further down the pecking order and potentially being sold, Juan Mata is another potential sale.

Lukaku though is looking forward to any signings, adding, "That is something I look forward to, in order to improve the squad, and what the manager also looks forward to because next year we have to win. We will have to try and win as many trophies as we can."
