Jose Mourinho could be set for a summer return to management with Bayern Munich reportedly considering him as a candidate to replace current boss Niko Kovac, should they decide to sack him.
Until he gets a new job Jose Mourinho will be shadow that is cast over major job in Europe. Despite how things ended at Manchester United he remains one of the best managers in the continent and it's only a matter of time before he gets offered a job.
There were rumours that Real Madrid were lining him up for a return to the Bernabeu, before Zinedine Zidane was the man who took over from Santiago Solari, and it's not the only job he's been linked to.
Rumours have also been swirling that he could move to France, with Lyon the club that have been mentioned in the past.
Describing his ideal next job recently Mourinho said, "I want to work in a club that understands there is a structure in place.
"I don't want an internal conflict. I want internal empathy. During my career I have been working in every possible circumstance. The most successful situations are not because of the structure but because of the empathy in the structure.
"If it is a club without ambition I wouldn't go."
One place which would fit that description is Bayern Munich and according to Foot Mercato the Germans are eyeing a move for the 56 year old should they decide to get rid of Niko Kovac.
Bayern only brought Kovac to the Allianz Arena last summer after Jupp Heynckes retired for the second time, after winning Bundesliga last season.
The former Eintracht Frankfurt manager's start to life with Bayern wasn't great and the team found themselves way behind Borussia Dortmund.
A return to form and their rivals falling away a little has led to the title race being level with just eight games to go.
There's no guarantee that Kovac will be sacked but the report does state, "According to our information, the Bavarian club would think seriously to move for Jose Mourinho for the next season. The Bundesliga leaders were already interested in the Special One a few years ago, but the opportunity was not created."
Will Jose end up at Bayern?
