Manchester United's desire to sign a centre back before 5pm tomorrow continue at pace. One man they won't be signing is Jerome Boateng after the Germany rang Jose Mourinho to explain why he didn't want to sign for them.
Jose Mourinho isn't exactly having his happiest summer. Things started to really unravel for him at the World Cup when his Manchester United players were playing very well.
Most club managers would see this is as a blessing but considering how he's spoken about Paul Pogba in the meantime it seems like he's annoyed that his players dared to play well and, even worse, with good style!
His pre season hasn't exactly gone according to plan either with the players who dared do well at the World Cup enjoying their three weeks off whilst performances and results haven't been great.

Finally transfers haven't exactly gone his way either. Early moved for Fred and Diogo Dalot, as well as Lee Grant, have now been replaced by empty transfer rumours and frustration from Mourinho and fans.
The one position the former Real Madrid boss clearly wants to fill is a centre back and one player they were after was Jerome Boateng, that was until the German rang Mourinho to tell he wouldn't sign.
According to the Guardian the reason for Boateng not moving is because he believes more in Bayern's project and doesn't think that United are capable of winning the Champions League.
PSG are also interested in the former Manchester City defender but there's been no reports that he has called Thomas Tuchel to confirm that he doesn't want to sign for them, and with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in their side you can see why.

The news that Boateng has ruled out a move leaves United in a sticky position with the transfer window being so close to being shut.
Mourinho's side have also been linked with Yerry Mina, Toby Alderweireld and Harry Maguire this summer but so far he's been unable to sign any of them and time is definitely running out.
Will the Red Devils manage to sign anyone before 5pm on Thursday?
