After six years out of the Champions League Italian side Inter are hoping to make a big impact back in Europe's premier competition with two more experienced signings following on from Radja Nainggolan's move.

The two Milan sides are often referred to as being the sleeping giants of European football. It's not that long ago that the pair were challenging for big honours home and abroad before they fell back into the shadows.

Last season the hope was that both AC and Inter could challenge again domestically, especially when the former went on a shopping spree following their new Chinese owners coming on board.

However it was the Nerazzurri who fared better in Serie A but they went into the last day of the season against Lazio needing a win to overtake their opponents and get Champions League football.

At 2-1 down it looked like they would only be returning to the Europa League but a dramatic turnaround saw Luciano Spalletti's side score twice and the Romans lose two players as Inter won 3-2 and got into the Champions League.

Il Biscione have already added Radja Nainggolan from Roma to their team for next season and today they confirmed two more excellent signings in Stefan de Vrij and Kwadwo Asamoah.

Both De Vrij and Asamoah were out of contract at Lazio and Juventus respectively and Inter have picked up two extremely good signings for nothing.

The Dutch defender joined Lazio after the 2014 World Cup where he impressed for Netherlands, helping Louis van Gaal's side reach the semi-finals.

Ghanaian Asamoah joined Udinese in 2008 before moving to Juventus four years later and won six Serie A titles with the Old Lady.

De Vrij was actually part of Inter qualifying for the Champions League as he gave away the penalty that to Mauro Icardi putting them level in the game against Lazio.

How will Spalletti's side do next season?
