Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks set to be dealt his biggest blow as Manchester United manager so far with a report claiming that Ander Herrera is ready to walk away from the club and sign for PSG.
Ever since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over from Jose Mourinho in mid December, following the 3-1 loss to Liverpool, the mood at Manchester United has been extremely positive.
Even the odd loss or poor performance hasn't been able to dampen the spirits of fans who are happy to see their Treble winning striker behind the wheel, after a period of mundane football being played by Mourinho, Louis van Gaal and David Moyes.
United are now fully entrenched in the battle to finish in the top four and have a Champions League quarter final with Barcelona to look forward to a week on Wednesday.
Who the Red Devils will sign this summer is a big question with their being an obvious need for reinforcements in certain positions.
Now it looks like Solskjaer will be in search for another midfielder with Ander Herrera set to leave. According to the Daily Record the Spaniard, whose contract runs out in the summer, has agreed a deal with PSG to move at the end of the season.
It's believed that the 29 year old has been left 'unimpressed' with the contract that was offered to him by the Premier League club.
Earlier reports have suggested that the Ligue 1 champions were willing to offer him more than £150,000 per week, a figure United were unwilling to match.
Solskjaer has preferred a midfield three during his spell as manager so far with Herrera playing alongside Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic as his usual trio.
It will lead United with a big hole in the centre of the park to fill and not ideal considering the kissy faces Paul Pogba has been making towards Real Madrid recently.
PSG were in the market for two midfielders in January but only signed Leandro Paredes from Zenit and their need to keep transfer expenditure down, for the sake of UEFA FFP, makes Herrera a very attractive prospect.
With the addition that Thomas Tuchel's side will lose Adrien Rabiot on a free this summer it's no surprise they have moved for the former Athletic Bilbao midfielder.
It will be a huge loss for United because of the passion that Herrera has shown towards the club on the pitch.
Who should they sign to replace him?
