Steven Gerrard will be looking to replicate international compatriot David Beckham by heading to a top European club on loan at the end of the MLS season.

The Liverpool hero has expressed his desire to extend his playing career beyond this campaign and has put Europe's elite on alert following the revelations.

The 36-year-old midfielder has also pledged to never play against his boyhood club after enjoying a successful period at Anfield. While Jurgen Klopp's men have no European excursions on their hands, it leaves the door open for a playing stint at a European club.

Gerrard plans to do a Beckham. The former England skipper experienced two loan spells at Serie A side AC Milan during his LA Galaxy career.

And after leading Liverpool to a famous Champions League triumph in Istanbul, he could provide vital knowledge and experience to any sides as they compete in the knockout stages.

A coaching gig appears to be on deck, too. But Gerrard isn't quite done lacing the football boots up. Where could he end up? Let us know below.
